A house leak rarely announces itself. A failed hose behind the washer or a pinhole in a copper line can run for hours before anyone sees it. Safehous watches the water entering your home and closes the main supply when the flow says something is wrong.
What floods a house
Washing machine hoses, water heaters, toilet fill valves, dishwasher lines and the fridge’s ice-maker feed cause most household water damage. The worst of them happen when nobody is there — overnight, at work, or on a week away.
A single floor sensor only helps where it sits. A leak inside a wall or under a floor may never reach one.
How Safehous protects a house
The FL-1000 in-line flow sensor sits on your main water line and detects flow down to about 1 ml per second, so it notices a slow drip as well as a burst. The ASV-1000 valve beside it closes the main supply automatically.
Point-of-leak sensors go under the water heater, washer and sinks for an early warning where water appears first. You get alerts by text, email or voice call, and the Safehous app shows the valve’s state and lets you open or close it from anywhere.

Works with your pool, irrigation and water treatment
Pools, irrigation and water treatment systems use water on their own schedule — and to a flow sensor, water moving when nobody is home can look like a leak. We lay out the installation so it doesn’t.
The Safehous valve goes on the main supply, straight after your manual shut-off and ahead of everything else. Water treatment — filters and softeners — comes after the valve, and the in-line flow sensor goes after the treatment equipment, on the supply to the house. The flow sensor watches only the water your home uses, so a softener regenerating or a filter backwashing isn’t mistaken for a leak. A rope or puck floor sensor beside the treatment equipment covers it if it ever fails. On irrigation and pool filler lines, the flow sensor is installed after the line’s tee for the same reason.
Any alarm, from the flow sensor or a floor sensor, closes the valve — shutting off the water to the treatment system and the whole house.
Common questions
- Does it need my home internet?
- Not necessarily. The standard gateway connects to your modem or router by Ethernet or Wi-Fi, and the optional gateway hub adds its own 4G cellular connection and a four-hour battery backup. Either way, the sensors and valve talk to the gateway over their own LoRa wireless network. The FL-1000 flow sensor needs permanent power, and the valve controller has an AA battery backup so the automatic valve keeps working in a power cut.
- Can I turn the water back on myself?
- Yes — from the Safehous app, or by hand using the manual override on the valve body.
