Built in BC

The FL-1000 sensor, machined and assembled in BC.

The FL-1000 in-line flow sensor is the part of the system that detects the leak. Its probe is machined in Abbotsford, BC, and the sensor internals and final assembly are done in Surrey, BC.

  1. CNC machining centre used to machine FL-1000 probe bodies

    Step 01

    Machined in Abbotsford, BC

The probe bodies are machined on CNC equipment in Abbotsford, so every part comes off the machine to the same drawing.

  2. Rows of machined metal probe bodies

    Step 02

    Machined probe bodies

The finished probe bodies, ready to leave the machine shop for sensor assembly.

  3. Assembled FL-1000 probes with cables laid out on a foam rack

    Step 03

Internals and final assembly in Surrey, BC

The sensing elements and electronics go into each probe in Surrey, where the finished sensors are assembled.

  4. FL-1000 probe seated in a brass tee before installation

    Step 04

    Fitted to a brass tee

The probe seats in a brass tee that goes in-line on the main water supply, so it sits directly in the water path.

This page is about the FL-1000 only. The point-of-leak sensors, the LoRa gateway and the automatic shut-off valve are manufactured abroad.

What that means for an engineer

Dual-element probe
Two sensing elements in the water path let the sensor tell a leak from a temperature change.
In the water path
The probe sits in the flow itself, not clamped to the outside of the pipe.
Down to 0.015 GPM
Detects flow from about 1 ml per second, which catches hairline cracks and slow drips.
Standard fitting
It goes in on the main supply like any other fitting, installed by a licensed plumber.
